Identify and Support Unfinished Learning

Our first year implementing this targeted math intervention program has been transformative for teachers and students. By focusing directly on the specific skills and standards individual students are missing, the program ensures no time is wasted.

The "hot seat" method is an absolute game-changer—students receive highly focused, intensive instruction and are only kept in the intervention for as long as it takes to demonstrate mastery. This approach respects their time and keeps engagement incredibly high. We are seeing a shift in teacher and student perceptions. Students are no longer thinking they can’t “do math”, but instead realize they need a bit of extra support with a specific skill. Teachers are realizing that intervention is not a place students live, but instead a temporary support they receive.

What has been most rewarding, however, is watching the students take true ownership of their learning. Through the use of progress growth charts and quick checks, they can visually track their own success, and they love it. They will race back to class with their charts showing what they have mastered. This transparency has fostered a deep sense of pride in their accomplishments. The data speaks for itself: we are seeing tremendous growth this year, with students successfully making enough progress to move out of needing intensive Tier 3 support. We couldn't be more thrilled with the results and cannot wait to see what next school year brings.

New Buffalo Area Schools has been using the Simplify Math RTI Program for the past nine years, and it has had a profound impact on our students’ success in mathematics. Simplify Math RTI allows our educators to focus on the most essential foundational mathematical standards while providing clear, actionable data to guide instruction. When I first started working with Simplify Math RTI, I saw the program’s capacity to positively impact K-12 students on their journey to master the language of logic. However, I never envisioned the true impact that it would have on my own child. As a parent, I am very grateful that my child’s teacher utilized Simplify Math RTI to support his readiness for grade level mathematics and beyond. Sam is a confident mathematician that continues to grow in his command of the language.

The school was following a state-supported RTI program for reading, and I longed for something similar for math. We were randomly pulling stuff from the Internet that we hoped corresponded to teachers' lesson plans, and I couldn't understand why there wasn't a step-by-step program that would HELP students rather than be additional busy work.

Simplify Math RTI has been instrumental in creating and sustaining MTSS Math interventions at our school for 3 years. We continue to see growth in student achievement each year. It has helped teachers to identify student need, provide targeted lessons to help students complete unfinished learning, & monitor progress. It built confidence in both teachers and students in showing them how to take actionable steps to drive change and growth. The model of intentional instruction using C/R/A "build/draw/write" and the "I do/we do together/you do together/you do alone" structure has been foundational in student success and confidence.
