Delta Math RTI is now Simplify Math RTI

New Name, Same Mission!

Identify and Support Unfinished Learning

Simplify Math RTI readiness screeners & quick checks (kindergarten through Algebra 2) are available to screen students online for $6 per student per year.

Online reports help you create flexible groups of students to provide targeted instruction and monitor progress.

Visual manipulatives can be purchased to support the C-R-A instructional sequence integrated within the free intervention resources.

Email your implementation questions to mikeklavon@simplifymathrti.org.

What should students know and be able to do?

Focus on high priority readiness standards!

Tiers of Support

Researchers recommend that tier 2 and tier 3 intervention should focus on high priority topics like:  Number sense, operations with whole numbers, fraction sense, operations with fractions, integers, algebraic expressions and equations.  (IES Practice Guide - Recommendation #2)

Tier 1
Support on standards from the current grade level
Tier 2
Support on standards from the previous grade level
Tier 3
Support on standards from 2 or more previous grade levels
How will we know if students have unfinished learning?

Use data from readiness screeners and quick checks!

When What Why Type of Support
Beginning of Year Readiness Screener 1A Identify student strengths and unfinished learning from the previous grade level and plan for additional support.
Tier 2
Middle of Year Readiness Screener 1B Celebrate completed learning and plan additional support.
Tier 2
Middle of Year Readiness Screener 1A (For the next grade level.) Identify student strengths and unfinished learning from the current grade level and plan for additional support.
Tier 1
End of Year Readiness Screener 1B (For the next grade level.) Celebrate completed learning and plan additional support.
Tier 1
As Needed Readiness Screener 2A Identify student strengths and unfinished learning from the 2 or more previous grade levels and plan for additional support.
Tier 3
As Needed Quick Check Measure progress to support daily goal setting during targeted intervention.
Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3
How can we help students complete unfinished learning?

Integrate high impact teaching strategies!

Review the learning targets and success criteria
Monitor progress frequently
Set personal goals
Gradually release teacher responsibility
Provide immediate and descriptive feedback
Provide mathematical structure by using visual representations, modeling problem-solving thinking, and using precise mathematical language

Our first year implementing this targeted math intervention program has been transformative for teachers and students. By focusing directly on the specific skills and standards individual students are missing, the program ensures no time is wasted.

The "hot seat" method is an absolute game-changer—students receive highly focused, intensive instruction and are only kept in the intervention for as long as it takes to demonstrate mastery. This approach respects their time and keeps engagement incredibly high. We are seeing a shift in teacher and student perceptions. Students are no longer thinking they can’t “do math”, but instead realize they need a bit of extra support with a specific skill. Teachers are realizing that intervention is not a place students live, but instead a temporary support they receive.

What has been most rewarding, however, is watching the students take true ownership of their learning. Through the use of progress growth charts and quick checks, they can visually track their own success, and they love it. They will race back to class with their charts showing what they have mastered. This transparency has fostered a deep sense of pride in their accomplishments. The data speaks for itself: we are seeing tremendous growth this year, with students successfully making enough progress to move out of needing intensive Tier 3 support. We couldn't be more thrilled with the results and cannot wait to see what next school year brings.

New Buffalo Area Schools has been using the Simplify Math RTI Program for the past nine years, and it has had a profound impact on our students’ success in mathematics. Simplify Math RTI allows our educators to focus on the most essential foundational mathematical standards while providing clear, actionable data to guide instruction. This data-driven approach makes it possible to structure effective Tier II and Tier III intervention time, ensuring that students receive targeted support in the areas they need most.

We have seen firsthand how Simplify Math RTI helps build the mathematical knowledge and confidence that students need to succeed not only in the classroom but also in future learning. The program’s intentional focus on critical skills, combined with its practical intervention tools, has made it an invaluable resource for our teachers and students. Simplify Math RTI has truly strengthened our RTI framework and continues to be a cornerstone of our approach to mathematics instruction.

When I first started working with Simplify Math RTI, I saw the program’s capacity to positively impact K-12 students on their journey to master the language of logic. However, I never envisioned the true impact that it would have on my own child. As a parent, I am very grateful that my child’s teacher utilized Simplify Math RTI to support his readiness for grade level mathematics and beyond. Sam is a confident mathematician that continues to grow in his command of the language.

Our school saw remarkable growth after implementing the Simplify Math RTI Program. The program's design motivates students, allowing them to track their progress and move out of support tiers once they master skills. The data is both relevant and actionable for students and teachers, leading to some of the best collaborative conversations about student learning our team has ever had. It's a truly effective tool for a multi-tiered system of support.

Thank you for your incredible program; it has truly been a game-changer for me. I’ve taken on all K-5 Tier 2 math groups, and I hold an HS English Teaching Certification! If I can make a significant difference using these materials, then anyone can! Thanks once again!

The school was following a state-supported RTI program for reading, and I longed for something similar for math. We were randomly pulling stuff from the Internet that we hoped corresponded to teachers' lesson plans, and I couldn't understand why there wasn't a step-by-step program that would HELP students rather than be additional busy work.

Simplify Math RTI has been instrumental in creating and sustaining MTSS Math interventions at our school for 3 years. We continue to see growth in student achievement each year. It has helped teachers to identify student need, provide targeted lessons to help students complete unfinished learning, & monitor progress. It built confidence in both teachers and students in showing them how to take actionable steps to drive change and growth. The model of intentional instruction using C/R/A "build/draw/write" and the "I do/we do together/you do together/you do alone" structure has been foundational in student success and confidence. Thanks for creating such a robust and easy to implement program!
